There are two possible types of deadlines you might see associated with your Pay By Group, depending on your role in the group: Payment and Smart deadlines.
If you are a group organizer you’ll be able to see your group’s next (or sole) payment deadline in the Organizer Controls bar near the top of your dashboard, between the auto-pilot controls and the Make Purchase button. This type of deadline is set by the merchant, is a “hard” deadline, and can only be extended with the merchant’s permission. Note that a merchant may not set a payment deadline, in which case you will not see anything in the above-described location.
If there is a payment deadline, the Organizer Controls bar may display something relatively general like “a month to go” or similar, but if you hover (on desktop) or tap (on mobile) on the clock icon next to that phrase you’ll see the specific date and time that the next payment is due.
Both group organizers and invitees will also see automated Smart deadlines on the right-hand side of the dashboard, which are typically sooner than final deadlines. These Smart deadlines are set by the Pay By Group system. They both encourage invitees to join quickly so the group can be completed, and give you time to fix potential payment issues and complete your purchase before the merchant’s final deadline passes. If the Smart deadline has passed but the payment deadline is still in the future, group organizers can request that their purchase’s Smart deadline be extended by contacting Pay By Group support.
Please do everything you can to ensure your group completes before the deadline passes; for example, you may want to activate the auto-pilot as described in this article. While you can request a deadline extension if you miss it, we cannot guarantee that the merchant will approve your request. You can read about expired groups and deadline extensions in this article.
