The auto-pilot feature allows you to complete your purchase without needing to manually submit payment. Once you’ve created the group, you can set the auto-pilot feature to automatically charge the group members’ credit cards for their shares after the necessary number of people have joined.
If you don’t use the auto-pilot feature, you will have to come back to your Pay By Group dashboard to manually trigger these charges and submit payment. You can read more about sending a group payment in this article.
If your Pay By Group includes installments, using auto-pilot will trigger the first payment as soon as the necessary number of people have joined the group. After that, each payment will automatically be charged just prior to its respective due date.
To set up auto-pilot, click the “Auto-pilot” drop-down button in the Organizer Controls bar at the top of the screen. Select “On” and a window will pop up where you can decide how many people need to join the group for the purchase to be made.
You’ll see a visual depiction of the expected breakdown of the purchase in this window, which will update depending on what number of people you choose.
When you’re ready, click the “Activate auto-pilot” button to close the window and turn auto-pilot on. The number of slots you set as the trigger for auto-pilot must be equal to or greater than the minimum size you set for the group and the current number of slots claimed in the group across all group members.
